Carter has over 300 employees and operates out of 4 facilities across the United States. Our headquarters in Frederick, Maryland is dedicated to R&D and UL/CUL certified for manufacturing all of our control panels. Our additional locations in Georgia and Texas focus on conveyor manufacturing, fabrication and assembly. Where We Came From:
Carter was founded by Tom Carter in 1981 in Frederick, MD. In the early years, Carter primarily designed and manufactured control panels and controls-related equipment. This changed in the late 80s when Carter debuted its 24vDC MDR conveyor system, CarterRoll™ Conveyor, the same conveyor we still use and install with all of our Intelligent Automation solutions. Carter primarily installed CarterRoll™ in USPS GMHS approved vendors such as Bulk Mail Centers, Air Mail Facilities and Processing and Distribution Centers for the US Postal Service.
In the early 2000s Carter branched out into the commercial market and began installing CarterRoll™ systems in commercial mail house market. In the late 2000’s, Carter took steps into automation and began manufacturing automation solutions for e-commerce and distribution companies. Since then, we have expanded those services to include everything that we offer today.
